- Look Good Feel Better

Well, whoo-hoo, this was an interesting day! Went to the Look Good Feel Better workshop at the Jewish General Hospital.

Here's how the website of Look Good Feel Better describes themselves: "Launched in 1992 by a charitable foundation of the Canadian Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Association (CCTFA), Look Good Feel Better is Canada’s only cancer charity dedicated to empowering women to manage the effects that cancer and its treatment have on their appearance, and often on their morale. Over 90,000 women have been helped through our workshop and services."

Well, it was so much fun! Joan was our super hostess, and she guided us through everything:

Look at all the free stuff they gave us!

We learned how to make ourselves up, so that even during chemo we can still look gorgeous!

Joan showed us how to choose a wig that we could wear when we lose our own hair.....

Maybe this one? (It's on sale for $172.99)

Nope - this one....it's free, courtesy of Hope & Cope.

Well, tomorrow, it's off to my Genetics appointment, and then Thursday, it's physio. Cancer has a way of keeping you very busy! Sheesh! I have no time for my social life!

And then, of course, Monday the 23rd is Chemo Day. Since the chemo I'll be getting puts me at risk for heart problems, the hospital asked me if I'd be willing to sign up for a study that will closely monitor my heart. I said yes - it makes me feel so popular knowing all these medical people want to examine me.

Here's a sweet little song from Mamma Mia, sung by hunky-hunk Pierce Brosnan. It makes me feel very nostalgic, especially because of what I'm going through. Take a listen....

When All Is Said and Done
Benny Andersson & Bjoern Ulvaeus

Here's to us - one more toast and then we'll pay the bill
Deep inside, both of us can feel the autumn chill
Birds of passage, you and me - we fly instinctively
When the summer's over and the dark clouds hide the sun
Neither you nor I'm to blame when all is said and done

It's been there in my dreams - the scene I see unfold
Two at last, flesh and blood, to cherish and to hold
Jealous fools will suffer, yes, I know and I confess
Once I lost my way when something good had just begun
Lesson learned - it's history, when all is said and done

In our lives we have walked some strange and lonely treks
Slightly worn but dignified and not too old for sex!
Clear-headed and open-eyed with nothing left untried
Standing calmly at the crossroads, no desire to run
There's no hurry any more, when all is said and done

Standing calmly at the crossroads, no desire to run
There's no hurry any more, when all is said and done

  2. I bet you're already "Looking Good and Feeling Good". Love the new look. Be sure to get some warm hats to wear once the snow begins to fall. Trust me you will feel the chill. I often would put on my little cap for bedtime just to keep my head warm at night. Wishing you the very best of luck with your first chemo treatment. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. Blessings to you my dear "breast" friend.

  6. Thanks for keeping us in the loop. Your blog is amazing as you are. We will be praying much for your first round of chemo - hope it's the last - the wigs look great - who knows maybe the Lord will let you keep your hair but if not you look great in all those lovely pieces. The Lord will take care of you - rest in Him and keep smiling.

    Love to you
